When do I start getting things for my baby?

Im pregnant, only a few weeks but when do i start getting things?

Answer #1

Have a baby shower. Ask other people when they had their’s in relation to their stage of pregnancy and have it around the same time. you would get some gifts and then purchase the other stuff after that.

Answer #2

once you get the gender usually. Around that time you’ll also know if your baby is healthy and normal. Refrain from using any technology during your pregnancy if you really care about your child’s well being. Especially cell phones.

Answer #3

You can start purchasing things at any time, but the general rule is to wait until you reach your second trimester, as the possibility of miscarriage is greatly reduced at that point.

Answer #4

Refrain from using any technology? How does one expect to know if their baby is healthy without technology?

Answer #5

In my opinion, the best time to start buying things and to have a baby shower is after the gender of the baby is determined, and after your first trimester (about the first 3 months).

You’ll need to know the gender of the baby so that you can buy it the appropriate clothes, toys, bedding, accessories, etc…

During your first trimester miscarriage is more likely than in the second and third. So, you will need to know whether your baby is going to be okay, and make it to birth before you start buying things. Otherwise, if go ahead and buy everything…then have a miscarriage, you are going to have a ton of baby items, and no baby. Which can add to the stress and grief of a miscarriage.

Answer #6

Just a little word of caution - even those 3D ultrasounds are not 100% accurate…I’ve known people who bought all their items for one gender only to find out it was wrong…as a matter of fact, my sister had 4 of those ultrasounds and they all said my nephew was a girl.

Answer #7

It depends how long till it’s due… Sorry not very accurate answer but really, in all honesty, it’s up to you! Good luck with the baby! X

Answer #8

I would suggest buying things slowly from the time you find out your pregnant. With my first pregnancy, and with this one we made it a rule to purchase one thing a week. You dont realize how many “small” things you really need until you start adding it all up. We started with things that gender didnt matter, a pack of bottles one week, pack of diapers the next, pacifiers the next one, etc. Then when you find out the gender you can buy the bigger items and start buying gender specific things.

Answer #9

no no, I didn’t mean it like that. I meant anything outside of the doctors office. Like cell phones and laptops. There are studies coming out that show temperamental issues in new generation children due to their mothers carrying cell phone with them, watching tv, and being on the computer for too long.

Answer #10

Yes, that is true. But, you can’t just wait until after the baby is born to buy everything. It’s going to need it’s room ready for it when it comes home. :P I suppose you could buy gender neutral items, if you aren’t sure.

Answer #11

All my children had gender neutral things when they were born…people always buy gifts for the baby after it’s born, so you’re bound to get boy or girl items then…how do you think we did it before genders were known?

Answer #12

So, what are they supposed to do while pregnant? Lay in bed for 9 months? There is a user on here that is pregnant with her second child, and she uses her phone everyday to access this site. I mean, there are so many electronics these days that people reply on, it’s almost impossible to go without them for a long period of time and not go insane.

Answer #13
