How to get red Kool-Aid stains out of the carpet?

I am trying to get the house ready to put on the market so your remedy made me so excited because as everyone else said, “IT WORKS!”

The red color in koolaid is particularly difficult to get out of carpet. I know a woman who had her expensive white carpet ruined by a red koolaid stain and ended up using her homeowner’s insurance to replace it.

Hopefully you got most of it up at right after the spill. For all spills time is of the essence; blot up as much as possible and keep wetting the carpet and blotting until you can’t get any more up. Then if you have a carpet cleaner run the extractor to try to pull up some more of the stain.

Oxyclean works on some stains but not all. I’d try that next.

If the stain has set I doubt you will ever get it completely up but you may be able to make it light enough that it isn’t as obvious.

If you have some left over scraps of carpet the stained sections can be removed and new carpet patched in. I’ve had this done for some damaged carpets.

To the last persons advise!!! You are a carpet god!!! I just finished cleaning red coolaid out of my cream colored carpet that was in their for 6 days with complete success!!! Thank You. I had a Birthday party and no one told me the spilled a lot of coolaid in my sons room!! It does take a little time and patience but works VERY well!! Make sure you clean your iron after it cools because it does get a layer of crap on it from the process!! Thanks!! :)

IT worked!!! My daughter had spilled red koolaid TWO months ago! Part of it was cleaned by my carpet cleaner and then the professionals, I paid. After everything it was light pink. The other part of the spill she didn’t tell us about and it was never touched until today. I tried the Windex and iron method!!! My WHITE carpet is nice and white with no trace of red koolaid!! All I can say is THANK YOU!!!

The best way to remove red Kool Aid stains is to avoid having spills in the first place. To minimize the risk of a Kool Aid stain:

Make it a household rule that Kool Aid and similar drinks are not to be taken onto carpeted areas. Use cups with lids for young children so any spills will be minimized if they do drop or tip the cup. Avoid overfilling cups so they will be easier and safer to drink from without spills.
