Why can't I sleep properly?

For about 4 or 5 months now, I have been constantly getting up at about 2 or 3 o clock in the morning, forcing myself to go back to sleep then waking up about an hour later, constantly, sometimes until about 5 or 6 o clock in the morning when i cant stand trying to get to sleep. I know I can’t, and sometimes I can’t get back to sleep around 4 in the morning. I can’t sleep during the day, and its usually between 11 and 12 at night when i can get to bed. This is on a school night, and sometimes very early in the morning when I can get to bed. When I feel really tired, I get into bed hoping I can sleep, but I can’t and its sometimes about midnight or around 1 in the morning before I can finally manage to get some sleep. When I do sleep, I’m a heavy sleeper, and nothing wakes me up, I wake up naturally very early in the morning, without an alarm. In the week, my alarm is set for 7:15am every day, and the snooze button lasts 5minutes at a time. I feel really run down, and I just can’t seem to get to sleep like I used to. Counting sheep has never worked for me, and still doesn’t, so if you tell me to count sheep it doesn’t work. But I don’t know what’s wrong. I think, for me to not get all the sleep I really need, its not good, and I think theres something wrong, and its not good. Please help. Thanks

You might have a sleeping disorder. Have your mom take you to a doctor.

i have always had a sleeping problem since i was little i found as i grew up i kept waking up about 6-7 times in the night, i go to bed late and i wake up at 6ish in the morning i have been like this for about 3 years, i have spoken to the doctor and an councler but they haven’t done anything, if your conurned about it i say see the doctor or drink something to relax you befor you go to bed. during my exams i was really bad not sleeping for weeks partly because of my ex stressing me out but i found horlex relaxed me a little before i went to bed. I atleast got an hour sleep.

I do that too, but when I talk to my mom about it(used to be a nurse) she says I probably have temporary insomnia, like ShyAne said you could have a sleeping disorder. Sometimes stress makes you not sleep also. & what I’ve found to work to help me get to bed quicker is working myself all day so I’m tired by bed time, sometimes it works.

I think it could be insonmia. Right now I am writing this at half 1 in the morning, had no sleep yet, im tired, but i cant seem to sleep. I dont sleep during the day, because its light outside, and at night its dark outside, so I can only sleep at night unless im all cozy with my girlfriend and tired. I think thats partially why too. I used to be fine, could sleep without a problem when I was allowed to sleep at hers and she was allowed to sleep at mine. Now we cant do that, for months, not joking, months I havent been able to sleep. I didnt know what it could be, I think it could be insomnia though. Thanks :)

Make sure you are not drinking anything with caffeine in it too late in the day. Soda and tea (and coffee - duhh) all have enough caffeine to keep you up. If it’s not that, it could be stress? When you can’t get to sleep, are you thinking and worrying about things? That can keep you up, too. Make sure you clear your mind. If a stressful thought creeps up on you, let it come and go.
