Do you think sites need to increase their security settings?

I think they should and make it easier to contact them. There is currently a situation with one of my friend’s who is a ms.goodygoodytwoshoes and there’s this high school girl who doesn’t like her and is causing unnecessary drama, and emotions to rise. I think it’s a sign of bullying but since it’s not like -book I can’t report it as quickly or easily. I can’t stand for this and I won’t see a friend get depressed, stressed or even worse, because of this high school girl. Talking to the principals doesn’t seem to work in this era today, what can we do?

Answer #1

Yep I sure do

Answer #2

YES! Exspecially Facebook

Answer #3

Delete the annoying high school girl as a friend, or tell your friend to stop going online on that website if it seems like it’s too hard to avoid. The only thing that girl wants from your friend is a reaction and she’s just trying to get under her skin, so don’t give her any recognition even though that may seem hard to just ignore her. Try talking to a teacher or counselor or a trusted adult and see what advice they may have… Hopefully your friend will realize that this girl isn’t worth all the stress :)

Answer #4

I absolutely agree on this point!

I think that a site spending more money trying to employ enough people to moderate a site that has millions of members is a bit of a stretch. It’s up to people to use their own tools to prevent or stop problems that happen to them online, and there are ways to do that. I don’t think it should be the responsibility of the web site staff to police all of its members.

Here, at FunAdvice, we have a slower moving site than a site like Facebook, so we can handle all of the emails or complaints that we receive, but if we were to start adding components like games and other third party applications, it’s likely that our membership numbers will increase to a level where we become overwhelmed by it.

It’s basic knowledge … if someone is harassing you online, block them, delete them, or … if necessary … report the behaviour to police.
