I love to sing and song write also but luckly I have an o.k voice with singing lessons it can help you sound better but it doesnt make you sound amasing because its something you have to be born with basicly but try looking at youtube videos for free singing lessons or go to one in your town/city

there are some videos on youtube or online that show you how to warm up your vocal chords and how to have a larger range, when you get into highschool join the chorus that helps a lot

Ok, I’m gonna break it down for ya real easy. You’re 13, which means you either just started high school or will be within a year or so. You’re gonna be associating with like 10X as many people in high school than in junior high, meaning you’ll find someone who can play guitar. Singing is composed of two main elements. Pitch, meaning hitting all the right notes; and timbre, which means the tone/strength/roughness etc. of your voice. Right now try focusing a lot of your time on pitch because you will develop vocal strength as your voice starts to change. A good exercise to use when concentrating on pitch is to hold one or both of your ears closed and start singing. This way you can hear yourself inside your head and be able to tell what notes you are hitting. Another way to do this is to sing directly into a wall so that the sound bounces off the wall and directly into your ears. Now I know you said you don’t want to take lessons, but a few might help. Brandon Boyd of the band Incubus took only two lessons in his life and, quote, “learned everything he needed to know.” Hell, I could sit here and type my balls off for days and still not be able to properly teach you what a lesson could teach you. I didn’t even get into how to properly breathe, sing from your diaphragm, or any of that stuff. But if anything, you definitely should not be embarrassed to be singing in front of a vocal coach. You’re there BECAUSE you suck, it’s there job to fix it! All I can say is have fun and good luck because it’s all worth it in the end. Take care.

And PS, good luck with the song writing too, I know how hard that can be. You might wanna take up a little bit of guitar too. Just the basic chords on an acoustic guitar will make writing 100X easier on you.

Just practice, you voice can hit most notes just it doesnt know it can so you have to train it. Record yourself and play it back, see what you thik of it, work on what parts you cant do well and develop the parts that you can do well. Also listen to people who sing well in their songs and dont rely on electronics, for example sileen dion who could stand there and sing a song without music and still get a standing ovation. Good luck hope tings work out for you good to see your chasing the dream :)

Scales & s h I t like that. voice lessions DO work though, I went about 3 times, & although I’m not a singer I have progressed ever so slightly.
