Should weed be legal

Should weed be legal , ok I love weed and am a firm beliver that it should be legal its less harmfull than alcohol and less harmfull than cigerettes , and in these harsh economic times we could tax it and get some much needed money back into the economy . So what do ye think .

Answer #1

Na. Legalizing it would bring an end to everything it symbolizes and the history behind it. I’m aaalll for the decriminalization though..

It’s not about weighing it against the detrimental effects of alcohol or cigarettes because that’s like whining “if he can do it and get away with it, why can’t III?”

Pro-Ganja’s(ganjans? what would you call pro-legalization activists? maybe that?) should concentrate more on the benefits like: -help the economy drastically -decreased crime rates (not only in the drug sense) -people(kids) are less likely to use Marijuana as a “gateway” drug if its legal, it would clear up the ambiguous lines between weed and other more-hard drugs. There’s a lot more but a buddy and I had this kinda debate a few days ago, so I don’t feel like going into much elaborate detail ahah.

Answer #2

If you are driving while texting you can have a car wreck and kill someone too. Let’s make cell phones illegal.

OH! We should make MASCARA illegal too… and car stereos… and passengers…

That is not true! I know at least people who died from Marijuana. They are my Uncle Chris, my cousin Andrew, my other cousin Andy, my grabdfather, and my Uncle Robert.

I’d like to see the medical report on ALL of those… especially where it states the cause of death being, ‘’marijuana’’ or ‘’complications from marijuana intake’’

That’ll be a first. The term ‘’stoned to death’’ is to be taken LITERALLY, not figuratively.

Answer #3

cenafan_101, I am sorry for your losses. While I do not know the circumstances of these deaths, I am sure they were not directly related to health issues from smoking pot. If they were in an accident from being impaired, that is not the same thing. There has never been one reported death of anyone dying from marijuana directly, like tabbaco (cancer, heart disease, etc.), or alcohol (liver cirrhosis).

Answer #4

You just seem you want everybody to say “Yes weed should be legal” YOU ASKED FOR EVERYBODY’S OPION! PEOPLE ARE GONNA SAY YES AND PEOPLE ARE GONNA NO! JEEZ you SEEM LIKE A POLITICAN BECAUSE YOU ARE TRYING TO CONVINCE EVERYBODY THAT IT SHOULD BE! WHAT’S THE PRIZE?! WEED BEING LEGAL!

Answer #5

Yes, it should. I lost my Grandpa to cigarettes, so I want them banned. He told me he did weed back in the 60’s, and said he made worse decisions when he was an alcoholic. the cigarettes gave him lung cancer and severe breathing problems. the weed did nothing to him.

Answer #6

Answer #8

Hey cenafan man if you don’t want a debate stop writing back ,

Answer #9

Ok so maybe pot dosen’t have side affects on SOME people, but it does have a side affect on LOTS of people. If pot had no side affects on lots of people and only some, then they would’ve made it legal. But due to the fact it KILLS a lot of people, why make it legal. If you are so determined to make pot legal, then go to the president for god’s sake! Jeez you seem so determined to make it us say that pot should be legal.

Answer #10

I am not saying you are lieing but thems the facts

Answer #11

Ever think about suicide? Try slowly killing yourself one refer at a time. Goes for cigarettes and alcohol, too. Still breathing? Then God has a special plan for your life and He will perfect in you what He has started, and He has loved you even before you were in your mother’s womb!

Answer #12

“If you are driving and high on drugs you can have a car wreck and kill someone. “

The same can be said for alcohol. It is not the alcohol or pot, or prescription drugs that causes accidents. It is the people who chose to drive while impaired.

“Marijuana leads to harder drugs and is very bad for you.”

This is sucha ridiculous argument. Most people who have smoked pot first tried alcohol. So does alcohol lead to harder drugs? If so, should we make it illegal (again) also? The concept of a gateway drug is simply not true.

Answer #13

Marijuana should be legal.

I’m not saying pot is good. I’m saying the drug laws do more harm than good.

Our drug enforcement efforts keep supply low and prices high so pushers can make huge profits.

Marijuana is not a gateway drug. When I was a kid I knew lots of people who smoked pot who did not progress to harder drugs.

Answer #14

Portugal decriminalized drugs several years ago, and their drug problems DECREASED. It’s not hard to understand why this seeming paradox holds true every time prohibitions are lifted.

Prohibitionists mindlessly demand laws against every behavior they disapprove of, without any thought whatsoever given to the unintended consequences of such laws. “I don’t like it, so it should be illegal” seems to be the entire sum of analysis they perform.

So yes, if we want to address the drug problem head on, history shows that the only method that works, is decriminalization.

Answer #15

We agree again, coneman.

I drink like a fish and smoke like a chimney, but I also enjoy a little reefer on a regular basis, too. I’ve made way more bad decisions drunk than I ever have stoned and I’m convinced a pack a day of cigarettes is bound to kill me before marijuana ever could. I think it should be legalized. Why the hell not? It’s like making coffee illegal. It comes from a plant and contains caffeine, which can be harmful.

Answer #16

If you are driving while texting you can have a car wreck and kill someone too. Let’s make cell phones illegal.

Answer #17

nope, it SHOULD ONLY BE USED AS A PRESCRIPTION DRUG, for people with serious illnesses- it should never be legal for recreational use, alcohol should be phased out as well- and cigarettes too- humanity has far too many “crutches”.

“”plus the weed that you buy on the streets also includes a lot of chemicals””

well you just made a great point if it was legal we would not have to buy it on the streets

you also say

“”And I don’t get why make yet ANOTHER drug legal…you allready have cigarettes and alcohol””

well I am from ireland were everyone (more or less) drinks and smokes the good drugs do you know how many people I’ve seen killed because of these good taxed drugs I would not like to start counting . Weed is less harmfull than these you dont blackout on weed and whats the point of cigeretts they make you smell rot you teeth and give you cancer . But its ok they are legal taxed drugs , but if I want to eat a pot brownie and play plastation for a few hours im the bad one im breaking the law but its legal to smoke around other people and its legal to get blind drunk to the point you could do anything and not remember , am I getting trough to you yet

Answer #19

If you are driving and high on drugs you can have a car wreck and kill someone. Marijuana leads to harder drugs and is very bad for you.

Answer #20

No, it puts a person on a bad road - Marijuana can be both emotionally and mentally addictive. Once an individual becomes addicted to marijuana it develops into part of who they believe themselves to be. Avoiding their friends who do not use, the addict will gravitate to others that do. Marijuana is a topic that is always on their mind, whether it be thinking about the next time they will be able to get high or where their going to get their next sack. When someone is addicted to marijuana eventually their friends and the people close to them only know how they act when their stoned because they no longer do anything without first smoking. Their constant abuse is due to the misconception that marijuana is what they need to solve their problems. Sometimes addicts will take their stash with them wherever they go, just in case an opportunity arises and they are able to take a couple hits. They may even go through several dealers in order to make sure they always have a constant supply of marijuana - For assistance Call 1-800-405-8409: http://WWW.marijuanaaddiction.info/ http://teenadvice.about.com/od/drugsalcohol/tp/marijuana_facts_teens.htm

Take care !!

Answer #21

People do not DIE directly from smoking pot. Alcohol and tabacco does directly kill people.

Prohibition does not work. Drug abuse should be a health issue, not a law enforcement one.

Amblessed, your rant is nothing but propaganda, and it still doesn’t address the fact that there are legal drugs that are far more dangerous.

Answer #22

still think weed is as harmfull as cigerettes

Yep,

let’s see…you INHALE something other than oxygen on a regular basis. plus the weed that you buy on the streets also includes a lot of chemicals

plus I have never known of someone that smoked cigarettes and died within a few weeks…but weed on the other hand…some people can smoke it for years and others not…the same with hardcore drugs…

also weed does impair your driving ability and mindset on a shorter term than cigarettes.

Also just because it’s from a plant does not mean it doesn’t have chemicals in it…it has natural chemicals.

And I don’t get why make yet ANOTHER drug legal…you allready have cigarettes and alcohol.

Answer #23

There are more than 4,000 ingredients in a cigarette other than tobacco. Common additives include yeast, wine, caffeine, beeswax and chocolate. Here are some other ingredients

Ammonia: Household cleaner Angelica root extract: Known to cause cancer in animals Arsenic: Used in rat poisons Benzene: Used in making dyes, synthetic rubber Butane: Gas; used in lighter fluid Carbon monoxide: Poisonous gas Cadmium: Used in batteries Cyanide: Deadly poison DDT: A banned insecticide Ethyl Furoate: Causes liver damage in animals Lead: Poisonous in high doses Formaldehiyde: Used to preserve dead specimens Methoprene: Insecticide Megastigmatrienone: Chemical naturally found in grapefruit juice Maltitol: Sweetener for diabetics Napthalene: Ingredient in mothballs Methyl isocyanate: Its accidental release killed 2000 people in Bhopal, India in 1984 Polonium: Cancer-causing radioactive element

Answer #24

baldwinwolf

at least you dont condone Alcohol or tobacco either I just find some proples atititude hyprocritical “make weed illegal but drink is alright” I can respect your view even tough I dont agree with you

Answer #25

Alcohol is one of the most life-threatening, mind-altering, motor-skill impairing substances in existence. Alcohol abuse destroys a person’s liver and wreaks havoc on the entire body. In many cases, it takes very little alcohol to impair a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle and threaten the lives of other people on the road. It seems to me that alcoholics are a much bigger threat to society than “pot heads” will ever be, regardless of the legalization of marijuana; yet alcohol is still legal.

TOKE IT UP!

Answer #26

I disagree. Cause even though there are a lot more ingrediants that go into making cigarettes, weed is just as harmful if not more harmful. I know some people who smoked for years, but I also know some people who took weed and died in a year. Weed messes up your brain and kills your body. I even beleive that they should stop selling cigaretes and weed and all other drugs. It may be cool to smoke it, but think about what you are doing to yourself. And the people who are close to you won’t like it either. You might think it’s cool, but tis not cool to basiclly commit suicide but useing that crap. Think about it…

Answer #27

I disagree, weed has killed some of my family and I hate weed because of it,back then they didn’t know much about what would happen, they regret it cause when they had heart attacks, teenagers should never smoke it,it maybe a stress reliever but it’s deadly,if you watch those commercials about smoking killing people,it’s real, millions do die cause of those heartless companies, sorry I can’t agree.

Answer #28

if it were legal I doubt it would have all those chemicals in it.. my old dealer was 19 and was smoking his own suplly which had been weighed down with fibreglass.. hes dead now because it punctured his lungs.. I smoked it but not enough so im lucky.. but answer to to your question… HELL TO THE YES. I wish it were legal would probably be cheaper too!

Answer #29

cenafan_101

I know peolpe (quite a lot of people) who have been getting stoned since the 60’s everyday and there is nothing wrong withthem mentaly or phisicaly , but anyway its not suicide as you put it and you can take it without smoking it you know .

Answer #30

I don’t think so

After all there are allready things like alcohol and drugs and weed IS just as dangerous as cigarettes…it messes up your lungs even more.

It’s still a drug, even if not as dangerous as others.
