What does setrogen do to your body physically ?

It does the following:

1. Regulates your menstrual cycle
2. Prepares your Uterus so that you can fall pregnant (it thickens it)
3. It can cause a woman to retain fluid
4. If you take it artificially it can increase your risk of breast cancer (usually if you use it over a long period)
5. It is necessary so that you can develop breasts (it doesn’t necessarily increase your breast size if you have already developed)
6. It regulates colestorel levels in women.
7. It works together with vitamins such as vitamin D and calcium so that you can build bones.

Oestrogen is a sex steroid hormone which, contrary to the idea that it is a female hormone, is required for both male and female fertility. It is produced in the gonads (ovaries or testes) and it is derived from testosterone. It is involved in development of female secondary sex characteristics, such as breast development, etc, pretty much all the things which have already been mentioned. In addition to this, it acts back on the brain to control its own secretion (negative feedback). It also has important functions in cognitive ability and things like bone density. What it does in males in terms of their fertility is actually unknown, though it is known that without this hormone, males are infertile.
