How to set your own short cuts in Google Chrome?

On my computer at home I can go to a new tab and click on an empty box (where normally they have your “most frequently visited site”) and make my own short cut to a website…but I can’t do that on the google chrome at school or on my laptop. help?

On the web browser search, in the top right corner of the screen there should be a star. Click on the star, it should offer you to bookmark the page. Whenever you open a new tab or Google, it should be at the top of the screen. Too get it to have an icon, click and drag it down below. There is probably an easier way of doing this, but that is the only way I know to do it. I personally merely bookmark it and it’ll be at the top of the page. I don’t bother dragging it below.
