“I got the answer after long 4 day search. When you copy the file from pc to mobile erase its extension. (means if file name is abc.jar then make it abc only) then from that phone you can transfer it another phone via bluetooth or IR. Then on receiver phone rename that file as abc.jar Thats it application starts working. I tried it in Nokia S40 (6233) phone. YO !!Enjoy — Tej”

This answer stands true only for a few Nokia cells. I tried this, but one sone phones when no extension is specified or given, by default it take the extension “.ext”. And when you try to rename this file, you can rename it only before .ext. for eg.: I got a java file thru bluetooth named XYZ.ext, so when I try to rename, this is the result: I get a file named “XYZ.jar.ext”. If anyone has a solution, I’d be obliged to be answered. One more thing, Nokia has introduced a new system called “Closed Content List” or CCL, which means no java format/file is supported by any type of messaging or bluetooth service. So the million-doolar-answer is to USE A MEMORY CARD READER…

Answer #4

here is another choice and I hope this helps. remove your memory card from your phone and insert it to the other phone. then copy it to it’s phone memory. finish. some phones don’t have copy option. so you must move it. if you move it, the file will be gone from your memory card. so you should have a copy of that file to your phone memory. kudos!

Hey guys I also have a s40 phone nokia 5200 and was going really crazy about how to send or receive jar files. I had been using blue ftp(Bluetooth file transfer protocol) that allows you to receive jar files from other phones. It can receive because it renames .jar to _jar before saving it on your phone. Then you can just use phone gallery to rename it to .jar I had been using older version and was unable to download jar files although it was possible to see jar files from other’s phone system. Then recently one of my friends introduced me to this software Liteftp which is nothing but Blueftp but with only one language support English and Blue ftp has many languages. Both are made by the same company. I got the latest version from getjar and was able to download jar files with ease. After realising that I could only take but not send jar files I thought maybe there must be some way to send it. Then I thought why not rename a jar file from pc and then send it. But it was not feasible if you have too many apps. Double memory space one for playing and one for sending. Then I came up with the idea that why not just have a renamed file of ftp and keep it in phone. Then if you need to send a jar file to someone simply send the renamed ftp to other phone and then have them use it to receive any jar files. I know many would even know this method by now. But for those who havent yet figured it out this might be helpful. Remember that when you want to send a renamed jar file send it using ftp software only and not through normal bluetooth. It will be able to be sent by bluetooth but cannot be renamed and run. But by ftp it can be renamed and run easily. So, finally a method to send and receive jar files from Nokia!!! A bit tedious but nonetheless effective. Cheers to the Medieval company for coming up with such a great product and providing it for free. Note: If you want to download this software download it from getjar only and not from the company’s website (www(dot)medieval(dot)it). The reason is getjar file has 15 or 40 seconds ad when you start the app but it is ok if you dont allow network access at all. On the other hand the file from company’s website has no ad waiting and you can start using instantly without waiting and is also ok if you dont allow network access. But after using it for somewhere around 10 times network access becomes compulsory and without it app wont start. Or else you will have to buy it. If you have any doubt feel free to ask me and I will be happy to elaborate. Enjoy guys!!!
