How to sing screamo? Are there techniques?

Answer #1

you…scream

Answer #2

You get a microphone And scream depressing lyrics into it.

Haha, sorry, had to take the p-ss on this one, even though I am quite the fan of a lot of screamo bands.

I’m not sure, I guess you have to have good vocal chords. I cant scream to save my life, (eek) and honestly, I can’t even scream high-pictched like a girl, sometimes I can, but not often.

haha whisper? whisper vocal screams are the worst. scream. use you diaphram and not your throat. this means you dont put pressure in your throat. let all the pressure come from inside your chest. just use your throat to change the amount of sound coming out for high and lows. DRINK a lot OF WATER. before and after I mean LOTS. I learnt by imitating the sound of a jaguar. sounds lame but if you can roar like a jag without hurting yourself. then you can change the sound to sing hardcore metal vocals. High pitch emo singing is another thing all together. still uses the chest. you have to sing untill you hit your head voice (when you get really high and you loose the ability to shape words baiscally can only make high pitch sounds haha). what you have to do is push it so that head voice kicks in later and your voice remains strong on the high notes without shorting to head voice or falsetto. Also try putting on an american accent as this helps in getting your voice higher. All you gotta do is practice/drink water/ and record yourself and listen back. You must not rely on a microphone to do the work for you or you will be the laughing stock of the industry.

Answer #4

Frist step… DON’T SCREAM no I mean ->Seriously DON’T actually scream Get a microphone Turn it wayyy up and just whisper the lyrics Put a bit more pressure though make the whispers loud too breathe in loads from your nose and just breathe out and whisper the screams but don’t scream cause you might hurt your voice real bad. but of course before you do all that you MUST warm up or you’ll kill your throat and might loose your voice for good, no lie. and yea just start from low pitch whispers to high high in your standards thuogh not so high that you can’t even do try to find a pitch that you feel confortable in then go ahead and make some screamo music. goodluck… hope I helped cause I tried o___o :]

Answer #5

none of you are right. haha.

Answer #6

people say not to do inward vox, but it’s for the best. it will not hurt you in any way. just breathe in and talk and make your voice scratchy.it’s easier to do it in a low pitch. it’s going to feel weird and make your throat itch at first but you’ll progress and it won’t even bother you at all. gradually increase the pitch of your scream higher and higher, sorry but whispering isn’t really it. I’ve never heard a band that does that. lots of bands use inward vox. ex: enter shikari. be sure to drink a lot of water. it won’t be perfect at first but practice and it will get better. there are other techniques when you exhale but they are a lot harder and not worth troubling yourself over. inward vocals are the best and as long as you try to use the higher more nasil area part of your throat rather than the lower part of it, you should be fine. good luckkk!!!
