Why do most schools not allow you to have rips in your pants?

My school does the same thing. Were only allowed to have rips under the knees & sometimes they still get onto you for it, it makes no sense. I guess they don’t want their students looking trashy or something, I mean if it’s like a huge friggin rip right next to your crotch I understand, I think it applies with the fingertip rule for skirts & shorts, they don’t want you showing skin any higher than that.

They just don’t like legs and stuff showing. I think because it distracts people and puts ideas in peoples minds, so they want it covered so people will concentrate more on school. If that makes sense..

yea same thing.. we have to have rips under our knees.. or they will put duct tape on them.. we have to have finger tip length dresses, shorts, skirts.. and no spaghetti straps, cant show cleavage. but in middle school we had to wear a tucked in shirt and belt.. with the same rules.. but now im in highschool we dont have to wear a tucked in shirt or belt.. but like who cares about wat we wear.. i mean its just clothes.. we are there to learn. i mean why care about clothing at all.? ya no?

yea but its rips, not holes.. i have stuff over them.. its not holes.. its just like rips and thats it.

Because it’s “distracting” and not “classy”. O: Ahaha, that’s what i would think, at mine we can have rips in our jeans as long as there not really big, and there’s not a lot.

Just because it can look trashy or really unprofessional. Also some jeans are ripped so high you can see the wearer’s underwear which is pretty inappropriate for school haha. I know, there are cool as ripped jeans that look really good. But if they make it allowed to wear them then before they know it they’ll have guys turning up in baggy ugly muddy slashed old jeans, and girls turning up in sIutty jeans slashed up to their hip bones.

idk , i think maybe they think its raggedy or something like that, my school banned them too, but ppl wore them anyway and so teachers just got tired so now they let kids wear ripped pants as long as its appropriate

It’s considered inappropriate for the reason that it shows too much skin. At my previous high school we weren’t able to wear short sleeves only long sleeved blouses/dresses/jumpers. No shirts with people on it, bracelets with the word Boobies on it, and pacifiers. That was a big one.

My school allows it. But , usually they ban clothes if it shows to much skin , has alcohol or d.rugs on it , has swears , violence , whatever. I’m thinking jeans with rips falls into the ‘shows to much skin’ category . It also could be because it is just trashy like the others said . And many schools are quite strict , and some aren’t.

well the rips on my pants are like on my thigh.. and there is like white stuff on them.. i mean it isnt a hole..

this question reminds me of a certain spongebob episode….
