They can also be a major distraction from actually learning from what is being taught - attention taker - also can be used as a tool for cheating - the teacher should have one for emergencies.

I know some teens that would rather have their arm cut off than give up their cell phone for a day.

This may be hard for you to believe but there are also telephones around that are commected to wires.

These have been in schools for almost 100 years now and are very capable of two way conversations.

It is so funny seeing the justification of some teens on this thread who just refuse to state the real reason that they want their mobiles with them in school.

Basically, you want your mobile with you in school so you can text your friends! Many teens have a mobile addiction and feel left ou of the action if they cant send and receive texts.

At my school you are allowed to have cell phones just as long as they don’t see it and it is on silent or vibrate. I think it should be okay because of all the reasons listed above. What if there was a family emergency and etc. They are not distracting its up to you if they are don’t be messing with them in class. I had got a text saying my dad and brother got shot to go to my aunts house not to go home you see that’s important.

NO there is no reason for a phone at school. When I was in school we had a phone in our lunch room and that was it, Life still went on, Big Suprise I know!!! But you can live without them for the couple of hours you are there. I work at a vet hospital and our phones must stay in the lunch room. We do have land lines if there is a emergancy.

the cell phone should be allowed in school for a number of reasons..what if a fight starts out in the field how can you contact help …or if a student passes out in class will an ambulance get there faster if you call for it or if you p.a. the office first explain what happened then let them call for 911 or what if your mom had an accedent how are they gonna contact you if your already waiting outside for her, huh plenty of reasons as long as it for emergancys with all the crap going on in schools dees days you deffinally need phones

I say yes and no. simply because they are lots of different and simple reasons for both!

The use of cell phones have changed, as long as the volume and vibrator are turned off they should be allowed in class.

I think they should be allowed at lunch or in between classes. as long as it is on your own social time
