Do you think they're scabies?

sigh I was supposed to go swimming today, which I really wanted too, but them my Mom saw my legs that had little red marks on them. Well she decided I can’t go swimming and have to go to the doctor instead, so I saw pictures of scabies and stuff and they’re more open and red sore looking, mine arent, and also scabies are suppose to be found in the creases of your body, like between your elbow, fingers, neck etc. And mine are just on my upper legs! She is still convinced. So what do you think they are? I think the ylook more like pimples, and they dont itch like scabies do so I think that when I go to the doctor today, he is going to say they arent scabies and that their just a bad case of acne or something. So my questions are:

Do you think this is serious? And do you think they’re scabies?

And yeah you can get scabies from picking up and playing with outsid stray cats and we have one but I rarley pet it, just sometimes on the back and I barely even touch it.

As a scabies sufferer from a few years ago, let me clear up a few things here:

You cannot catch scabies from a cat. Scabies do not live on pets.

It is VERY common to get scabies “outside of the third world.” While they become more prevalent in areas where washing is infrequent and conditions become less sanitary, living in a clean environment is not a guarantee against scabies. If one has come in contact with a single egg, one can become a carrier.

Getting rid of scabies is supposed to be a relatively simple process, but the Internet is littered with stories of people who try and try and try and fail to get rid of them. If a single nit remains, the process can start all over.

Scabies can exist pretty much anywhere on your body, not just in the creases. An infestation on the upper legs is actually quite common, but if they do not itch, it is almost certainly not scabies. One of the most telling symptoms of scabies is an incessant, uncontrollable, unending itch.

The doctor will be able to test conclusively for scabies, however. The process is very simple – he or she will take a small needle and scrape some skin from the infected area. Examined under a microscope, scabies eggs and larvae become apparent almost immediately.

On a personal note, scabies was one of the worst things I’ve ever gone through. I wouldn’t wish that crap on anyone. Even Mormons.

Thanks everyone, and I found out that I didn’t have them I was sure I didn’t but you know moms, very protective and panicky. Lol, so yeah we asked my sister what she thought, since she had them when she was younger and she said that they were deffinitely not scabies infact she said she had those on her legs too! And it was most likely from shaving or maybe a breakout or something. I’m not itchy at all so yeah I dont think I have them. Thanks for the help guys. :)

If the cat had scabies you would see it pretty clearly.

It is a rare thing to pick up scabies outside the third world so you could have eczema, which is a small allergic rash often found in creases but also other places, but without seeing it it is difficult to tell. It could be the start of measles or chicken pox although it would be a little late in the season for either of those.

Maybe it is just a heat rash?

scabies is not a huge problem, honestly! it’s not pleasent and can end up being annoying, but with some special wash stuff, it will go away. you will need to boil wash all the bedding etc…

but it goes v quickly…

and measles and chicken pox don’t have seasons, the only pattern to increasd numbers is due to children coming into contact with children, hence why during school term, number can be more prevalent..

incidentally, scabies is VERY common in the nursing world. many nursing homes etc have a breakout at least once every few years. they live under the skin, and they DO make you itch, I have had patients near on tearing their skin off becuase of it…

and the only way to get rid of it is to use a medicated wash and boil wash the clothes…

well my sister just got diagnosed with scabies and I really don’t want to get them. we don’t share a bed but we do share a room together and I washed all my clothes and bedding and vaccuumed…is there anything else I can do to prevent getting it? and we also share a car…I vaccuumed that too but is there anything else I can do to disinfect the car?

I’ve had scabies on my legs, arms, ankle, neck just about everywhere. An YES pets can get scabies its just called “sarcoptic mange” you can give it to them or they can give it to you.
