If its home cooked goodies using shrink wrapping works really well - thats how we shipped cookies and treats from the bakery that i worked at. Bubble wrap inside of boxes make sure that whatever is placed it doesnt move while the box is behind handled. Also, if its somthing that needs to stay cold dry ice can be used too ship it.
when my family lived back east, my grandma would send us tamales, but frozen, in overnight shipping :)
