Can I run Mac OS by putting the hdd in a different Apple computer?

Sorry if the title is rather random, but here goes. I have a ibook g3 12’’ which has the video card problem but it has os x on the hdd. I also bought a powerbook g4 titanium onyx for 17.50GBP on ebay (works brilliantly even though it wasn’t used for two years!). The downside is there is no os in the powerbook :(

if i take the hdd out of my ibookg3 and put it into the powerbook g4, will it boot into mac os x?? thanks in advanced :)

It might. I have been told Mac’s don’t have that issue with different hardware that Windows does (change the hardware too much and windows wont boot -_-). But IDK what the internal specs look like on a Powerbook G4. I know you can’t update Mac OS past a certain point if you don’t have the correct CPU.

I would say give it a try. With it being an ebay item you really don’t have to worry about voiding any warranty. If that doesn’t work did your ibook g3 come with an OS disc??

it didn’t unfortunately, both have powerpc cpu’s, one being more powerful than the other :/ lol, i’ll give it a bash! no harm in trying :)
