How do you get rid of poison ivy?

Answer #1

Calamine lotion. Over the counter remedy at your local pharmacy.

Answer #2

I had Poison Ivy two weeks ago, until last week. It’s all gone, the best thing to do is not scratch it. You should buy Caladryl from a local pharmacy, which is basically a pink lotion that you apply it on your skin. I bought Calahist which is walgreen’s version of Caladryl, so you save money and still get the same benefits. It basically dries the poison ivy rash until a point where it doesn’t itch anymore. Mine is all gone now. The lotion comes in a pink bottle, but be careful I think it can stain your clothes, so make sure your clothes don’t touch it until its completely dry.

scrub with soap (dish soap work really well) and hot water first to get rid of the oils. also wash the cloths you were wearing, you can get it again if you don’t. Then DON’T SCRATCH IT! You can use anti-itch cream. One thing i found, take a rag or sponge and run it under very hot water ( don’t burn yourself) then put it on on the itchy spot. I don’t know what it does but it stops the itch for hours.
