Resume writing tips?

I currently have a job at a grocery store, but it really isn’t a place I want to work anymore. I’ve been there for a year, and that whole year I’ve hated it. I’m writing a resume and will hand it out to the few options I have to possibly work at if they are hiring.

  1. Should I put my supervisor as a reference? She likes me and has thanked me plenty for my hard work, but even with a two week notice, I’m not sure If she will happily say nice things about me if I make her a reference.
  2. What should I put under my hobbies or activities? I know it is optional. I’m handing this to a library. I work as a casual at a different one, so I already have plenty of experience. But does it matter what I put under my hobbies, or should It be related such as reading and writing?
  3. Any tips or tricks I should use when writing or approaching somebody who I hand the resume to? Thanks :)
