What is a good replacement for the Harry Potter series?

Answer #1

None in movies, if anyone says twilight I will haunt them. However if you are looking for a good fantasy book try The malazan series by Steven Erikson.

Answer #2

no, not twilight please. i don’t know why people compare it to harry potter. hmm.. the Malazan Series. What is it about?

Answer #3

twilight is NOTHING to compare to the amazingness and detail of Harry Potter so it could never replace it

Answer #4

what about the Inkheart series?

Answer #5

I don’t know about films but in England there are a series of books called Barry Trotter which are a spoof of the Harry Potter books, you might like them

Answer #6

I don’t know too many with the same idea as harry potter, but I can recommend many of good series :D

Maximum Ride Leviathan Witch and Wizard House of Night or Morganville Vampires (yes, overrated vampire books, but these two do it very well if I do say so myself. I’ve bother to keep myself updated on them :D) ANYTHING, I mean, literally anything by Terry Pratchett. (But especially the discworld series, it’s HI-larious) Daughters of the Moon - very long series, but I love each and every book. The Darkest Powers Series And…NANCY DREW!!! The originals, not the new ones -.-

That’s all I can think of for now :)

Answer #7

Anything but Twilight. Just kidding. I don’t know of any really but that’s probably because Harry Potter was so monumental during this time, it’s unlikely another hit series of books will surface for a while. =/

Answer #8

I loved the Harry Potter series :D. Makes me sad she is done writing it :(

But some of my other favorites are: Dresden Files by Jim Butcher (Wizard/Private Eye in Chicago modern day)

The Belgariad & Malloreon series by David Eddings (He plays with stereotypical adventure types and makes great jokes using it.)

Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind (another one that was finished not too long ago and makes me sad there are no more books)

The Death Gate Cycle by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (In parts its rather deep and gets you thinking)

Those are some of my favorites off the top of my head.

Answer #9

lol. that sounds fun to watch!

Answer #10

yeah, that was what I was thinking too. i hope another monumental series appears soon so i can hope in the bandwagon and enjoy another good read. but i doubt anything look harry potter would come up soon

Answer #11

I suffered the same thing after I finished reading it I was lost haha but I found 2 other good series. One was The Life as we Knew it Here is a link to what it is about: http://funadvice.com/r/bl2e86evvim also that book I’d followed by The Dead and The Gone and the This World We Live In. Also another series you might like is The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel here is a link for that series: http://funadvice.com/r/159r0q7sudv

Answer #12

The “His Dark Materials” trilogy by Philip Pullman, beginning with “The Golden Compass.” Fun and smart and exotic and beautiful and moving and sort of magical-spiritual. The only downside is the shallowness of its anti-church theology, but it didn’t get in the way of enjoying the story.

Answer #13

thanks for the links! the books look interesting. :)

Answer #14

yups! exactly. don’t know why some people say Twilight is the new Harry Potter when it never stood a chance against it in the first place

Answer #15

thanks for the suggestion!

Answer #16

Ooh! That’s a long list of books. Mind telling me which is your favorite? :)

Answer #17

:D Well..it’s hard to choose..I love them all so much O.O But, I’d have to say the one that I like the most is…(does extreme deduction of pros and cons in head)…Daughters of the Moon. At least at the moment, because, it has an interesting and unique plot. Each book focuses on a different character so it doesn’t get boring. And, there are so many of them, so it will keep you occupied for I while. But, I’m not leaving out the rest of them! They are all really good o.o Although, if you’re searching for a good replacement for the Harry Potter series, the Discworld series might more suit your fancy ^.^
