Real or fake contractions

Ok so I am 37 weeks and 5 days. I am already diolated at 1 cm. Today I went to the doctors but she only checks you every other week. Anyway… About 330 or 4 this afternoon I started having pains in my lower back area. To me it feels like I am cramping in my back . At first I wasnt worried about it then I decided to move about. I walked around the house a bit . Then I laied down and then walked around some more. Now I am sitting down and the pain in my back seems to be hurting a bit more and I have been sitting here for about 20 mins. Soo are these the braxon contractions or is the the beginning of real labor or should I wait a lil longer… Also I am not sure what contractions feel like cause what I am feeling now is pain on and off but mostly constant. Soo any advice???

When the labour is true, there will be no doubt

Just stay relaxed and if the contractions begin to come along steadily and more frequent, or have become worse, then go to the hospital.

ok just to let you know that I was having small contractions but they were the braxton ones.. also on top of the contractions I had the stomach flu and thats why it hurt so bad … my doctor told me that when they seem like they come and go to start timing them. but to me I am kinda unsure when to start timing .. do I time them from the time they start to the time they end or do I time them from the time they end til the time they start or what… I soo dont have a clue on how they are spose to be or how they are spose to feel … I am just soo frustrated I dont want anything to go wrong…

Braxton Hicks normally stop when you move around. Contractions will at first be some time apart (maybe 10 minutes), then get closer together. But you will definately have a breather between each one. If you’re really uncomfortable then call your doctor (they are there to help).

With my oldest child I had back labor and it was the worst thing I have ever felt in my life. It was in my back, stomach and legs. It feels like cramps that are about a billion times stronger than normal but they wrap around to your back and down your legs. The closer together they get the more they hurt. You would get to the point that when you are having one the only thing you can do is try to breathe through it.

Good luck

It doesn’t sound like contractions…are the pains also in your lower stomach and even you thighs? You may also feel pressure down below when it’s real labor. Contractions come and go closer and closer as labor progresses, it’s not a constant pain. Even when your baby is ready to come out contraction let up every so often. And when contractions are bad enough to go to the hospital, you’ll know! It kinda burns…like the worst period cramps you’ve ever had times 20!

So is the pain just in your lower back? The baby may be pressing on a nerve. My daughter did that to me a lot in the end of my pregnancy. She was on so many nerves in my back and hips that there were night I couldn’t even fall asleep. No matter what I did, it hurt. I may be over dramatizing, but at times it felt like I got hit by a car because it was sooo bad! lol
