If you’re serious about losing weight you need to passe yourself and realize it’s not going to happen right away and if you’re expecting that than you’re setting yourself up for failure.

The idea of rapid weight loss itself is BS. It’s not healthy, and it’s not fun.

The ideal weight to lose each week is 1-2 pounds. The more weight you lose in a short period of time, the more weight you’ll start to put on after. It’s hard to maintain the weight after a rapid weight loss because if you think about it, your body lost an incredible amount of weight in a short time, so obviously, it goes into ‘starvation mode’ and starts to conserve as much fat as possible to get you through the ‘food drought’. Your muscles will slowly be eaten away for energy because it is more easily expendable than fat. It’s a myth that if you starve yourself, you’ll get thinner because you’ll lose fat.

Hence if you continuously do this, your body will be storing more and more fat, and it will be hard to maintain that weight you wanted because of this inertia. Either that, or you will start to develop an eating disorder and be affected mentally as well. Not good.

This is the generation of the “I Want It Now, and I Want It Fast!” attitude. And while it can be a great motivational factor for some things like a job bonus, that mindset can really work against you in the long run in other situations like weight loss.

Seriously, try a healthy weight loss approach. It’s not hard, it’s just that people are lazy and want the easy way out to get their way. Well tough luck, you can’t always get what you want without actual hard work.

So how do you adopt a healthy weigh loss lifestyle? Why, a proper healthy diet and exercise, of course! In eating, it’s easy to finish almost half a pizza or drink a few bottles of cola every week. But what we have to improve on here is the portions and having everything in moderation. You can have your meat and veggies. Meat is an excellent source of protein, and just so you know, I have a few vegetarian/vegan friends who are above the average weight.

Make sure your carbohydrates are made out of 100% WHOLEGRAIN, and switch to brown rice instead of white. White/refined carbohydrates are pretty much pure sugar to your body. Wholegrain makes you feel fuller longer, heaps of fiber, and are Low GI. Of course, still have carbs in moderation, in a portion just enough for you.

Have lots and lots of veggies, all kinds of them. They are great for you, keep you full, and are full of fiber and nutrients. Fruits and (some) dark chocolate are still great for you especially when you have a sugar craving.

As for meats, pick lean meats (lean beef cuts, chicken/turkey breasts, etc). Nuts and berries are also very good for you when you feel like snacking on something. Don’t eat the whole bag though, just eat a handful. Have your yoghurts, milk, and cheese too. They are good for you.

If you can, try eating 6 small meals a day. That may sound like a lot, but you have to know that I really mean small (1 portion) meals. Snack here and there in between if you feel like it. This helps keep hunger away throughout the day because the food keeps your insulin levels in check. Sometimes we tend to go overboard eating because we felt so hungry then! Make sure that they are good, nutritious food. You’ll start to see that you’re only eating what you need. So this is a good time to start practicing. Just remember to have the right portions.

Add all that with good ol’ cardio and weight exercises. You don’t have to use heavy weights, just enough to tone up your muscles. The more muscle you activate, the more and more fat you will start to burn throughout the day, even after your workout each day.

Good luck, give it a go, you’ve got nothing to lose.

Here is a guide to the portions of food items that you’ll use: http://www.menshealth.com/cda/article.do?site=MensHealth&channel=weight.loss&category=abs.diet&conitem=4c2d4d26be615010VgnVCM200000cee793cd_

be careful with what you don’t eat. it could be very dangerous!! if not eating meat, then you must have something to replace it. not getting what you need from meat can mess up your insides (if forget, but I think it’s appendix or something), I know it’s not that important, but it can cause it to burst and it can kill you. my friend almost suffered that consequence.
