What is the psychological model of child abuse?

I have to do a powerpoint on the 5 main theoretical models of child abuse: (Medical model Sociological model Psychological model Feminist model Contextual model)

i’ve completed slides for these models apart from the Psychological model..i need to explain it in detail and idk wat to write because the only brief notes i have is: -Family dysfunctions around relationships. -If relationships deteriorate, often one person becomes the ‘scapegoat’ and problems are blamed on them. -Family ceases to function.

I need help ASAP! Argggh! please heeeelp! :S

I study psychology and have never heard of these ‘models’ before, so I’m not sure how helpful anything I say will be… However, I would advise that you familiarise yourself with learning theory, attachment theory and psychodynamic theories in relation to child abuse. There are also ‘cognitive’ theories which involves the perception, memory for, and modelling of abusive behaviours from one’s own parents (somewhat linked to learning theory). Most psychological theories refer to upbringing and the psychological effects of parental neglect and abuse on people who model these behaviours and then become parents themselves.

I am not sure if the theories are talking about are the same as the ‘psychological model’ that you have referred to, but I’d say there would be a lot of overlap.
