How do I properly clean a cartilage piercing?

This is the first piercing I’ve had done in a few years and I completely forgot to ask the man who put it in how I’m supposed to clean it. It’s not a stud, it’s a hoop, if that matters. Would I be able to just wash it in the shower with soap and water or do I need to buy some sort of cleaning kit for it? Much appreciated :)

Answer #1

My piercer told me to do sea salt soaks at least twice a day (so morning and before bed I guess) and to wash it with anti-bacterial soap or soft soap.

Answer #2

I’ve been told to clean my cartilage piercing with dial soap (with no perfume or dyes) and sea salt soaks.

Also, You can use a saline solution (available at any drugstore) to clean your cartilage piercing. Some might say to use anti-bacterial soap but that can harsh on the healing skin.

People with cartilage piercings, should not rotate/twist the jewelry while cleaning. It will only tear up healing tissues and prolong the healing process.

Do Not use Sun Block, Sun Tan Lotion, Baby Oil or any other skin care product on a new or unseasoned piercing.

Answer #3

Your piercer is supposed to tell you anyway, you shouldn’t have to ask. Here, we are given Easypiercing spray or we do sea salt soaks. No soap or creams like I’ve heard people say before.

Answer #4

boil some potato in water ,, after boiling the potato.. there would present some brownish color water ..take that water in a bowl and dip (put in water) your piercing for some hours (2-3),, ** dont heat that water again .. then wash it .. u will see result good .. another method is wash with lemon ( like that wash with soap ) just try it , it works.. :)
