Which processor is faster - intel pentium dual core 2.50ghz or the intel core 2 duo 2.4ghz?

Answer #1

2.5 wud b my guess

Answer #2

Intel Pentium core 2.50GHz is faster. I have an Intel Core i3 with 2.27GHz and works really good. What you do with your computer is really a factor on how fast it can execute a program and be able to use it, but the 2.50GHz is better. If you are picking a computer then you should list other factors instead of the Processor so you can make a smart decision. Best of Luck- Juan

Answer #3

The Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz CPU is faster because it has a bus frequency at 1066MHz, whereas the Pentium runs at 800MHz. This is only a slight increase in performance (5-10%) so I think it’s worth it. To convince you even more of getting the lower clocked dual core, it has 4MB of shared L2 Cache, meaning it can access memory 2 times faster than the Pentium which is at 2MB of shared L2 Cache.

The only downfall for that Core 2 Duo is that it is a 65nm chip so it’ll run hotter, but that shouldn’t be an issue.

Answer #4

You might have actually caught me on that. Thanks

Answer #5

It’s okay. This kind of also depends on what class of Core 2’s and Pentium’s he’s talking about. I’m assuming he was talking about the Core 2 Duo E6500 and Pentium E5200. That would be the Conroe and Wolfdale classes which are known to overclock well too, so he can still get the Pentium and just tune it slightly to reach the same performance of the Core 2 Duo, but won’t gain any extra L2 Cache.
