Could not wearing glasses make your vision worse?

What if you may have a problem with your vision, and you don’t go in and get glasses, or whatever you need done, could this make the problem worst?

Answer #1

Yep the sooner u get it taken care of the better, u cud even possibly reverse some of the damage

Answer #2

That is what another person said, but I did not think it was true, it is just taking the time to go to the doctor. It always seems to take up your whole day.

Answer #3

If you don’t get glasses you will get headaches all the time.

Answer #4

Yes, not being able to see properly puts strain on your eyes and the strain can result in your eye sight becoming worse. Also you could get nasty side effects such as headaches and nausea if you don’t get your vision sorted out. I suggest speaking to your eye-doctor (forgot the fancy word) and asking them whether you have to wear glasses all the time, because if you get your vision problem sorted out ASAP you might only have to wear glasses in certain circumstances.

Answer #5

I don’t think not getting glasses will cause headaches, the eye strain.

Answer #6

I have not seen I eye doctor in over 10 years.

Answer #7

Yes not havein glasses when u need them can cause headaches

Answer #8

Well here is a trick I learned, make an appt and make sure ur the first to b seen, it tends to go faster

Answer #9

Eish! It’s never too late. You really should go. Also often vision can be repaired with a simple procedure, but leaving it too long can make things a lot more uncomfortable.

Answer #10

Depending how bad your vision problem is, chances are that before long the time you lose by seeing the doctor will be gained back many times over by your improved ability to see clearly.

Answer #11

Well I have been having trouble for a few years now.

Answer #12

Ur best bet is to get them checked asap before it gets any worse

Answer #13

I will, it only cost 10 dollars to go see on, just hate to sit there and wait.

Answer #14

Just b the first appt, I guarantee it won’t take more than an hr for everything, and that long only because its been so long, when I go to the eye doc I’m thr a max of half an hr

Answer #15

If you think you have to wait very long, take a good book, Chris. :-)

Answer #16

But Astrid, what if he can’t read it until he gets his glasses :)

Answer #17

If you don’t want to go to the oculist (my favorite complicated-word-translation-site said that’s the eye-doctors proper name), you could maybe see an optometrist (that should be the guy who sells glasses). Maybe you can do a quick check in the shop there.

And he’ll tell you whether you have a problem or not. And whether you should go see a doctor.

Answer #18

Yes that is what scares me is the time, even when I am on this site I multi task, I am working right now to.

Answer #19

Good one TrentH, but I can still read, all I have to do is cover one eye, and then make a circle with my hand over the other one.

Answer #20

In American English (I don’t know about elsewhere):

optician - a technician who makes lenses to order, and may sell glasses.

optometrist - a doctor who examines eyes and prescribes lenses for vision correction, and may sell glasses.

ophthalmologist - a doctor who examines and treats eyes for diseases and structural problems.

oculist - either kind of eye-doctor (optometrist or ophthalmologist), but not an optician; however, this word has fallen out of use and is mostly obsolete.

Answer #21

Omg, and you’re worried about losing an hour or two at the doctor’s office?? :P

Answer #22

yes, you would just be causing unecessary strain to your eyes, if you have a problem with them get it checked out asap
