Do you think we should have prayer in all schools?

Do you think we should have prayer in all schools?

Answer #1

I feel that they should allow prayer in schools, but not necessarily enforce it. We used to have three minutes of silence and people could choose to pray or not, but they did have to be respectful of those who did want to pray. I think that is how it should be. And I don’t think they should make a huge deal of it when a kid says a prayer over his lunch, or teaches another child to pray.

Answer #2

well you can pray w/o anyone knowing so it is pretty much already allowed

Answer #3

In religious schools, yeah, but there’s no what you could force someone into saying a prayer if they’re not religious.

Answer #4

Yes. I think YOUR children should be forced to say prayers to MY god.

…oh, did you mean prayers to YOUR god? In that case, no.

Answer #5

yes I think we should have prayer in all schools. but with this perverted generation and spiritually polluted world we live in nowadays, that really isnt possible.

Answer #6

School isn’t for praying. Its for learning and being able to make decisions. If the school is for a certain religion then certainly. But not public schools and not private schools that are not based around a religion.

Answer #7

I’m an atheist, and no I don’t think we should have prayer in all schools. If people want to pray in school it’s there choice.

Answer #8

yes I believe in prayer but its contraversal to some students…I think we should be able to pray if we want to…and not have it be forced…

Answer #9

yes I believe there should be prayer in school …but as Stephanie said it should be in religious schools not all … I think that if its implemented in all schools conflict will arise

Answer #10

Early schools had The Bible as a text book up until the 60’s. We have some teachers who still have one atop their desk and if a student raises a Q, then discussion ensues. Prayer is at every graduation ceremony and they are lead by a student and the principal. That goes for Jr. High and High schools that are state run. Remember, it is separation OF church and state, not separation FROM church and state. The state is not to dictate one particular religion. Too many want to separate Christianity from the world which in fact is nothing more than the truth, for we are aliens on THIS earth. The new heaven and earth to come will be indescribable in their greatness.

Answer #11

Prayer is in all schools. Those students who choose to pray at times that do not disrupt class have the freedom to do so. It’s the school who cannot impose prayer or Bible reading on a captive audience.

My mom is a teacher and they have the yearly “Meet You at the Pole” prayer thing. She says hardly anyone cares enough to show up. If you want more and better religion, you have to start it at home.

Answer #12

warmheart: Women didn’t used to have the right to vote, and people used to think slavery was a good idea. Just because something used to be done doesn’t constitute evidence that it should be done.

And since when is a school in the ‘60s an “early school”?

“Remember, it is separation OF church and state, not separation FROM church and state. The state is not to dictate one particular religion.”

And yet, by having the christian bible as part of state schools, it would be doing exactly that.
