Please help! I'm losing the will to live.

I have been suffering from trichotillomania for over 2 years now, I pull out my eyelashes and have none left, it started with me pulling my eyebrows but I moved on to my lashes. I’m 15 years old and all I ever do is compare myself to other people. All of my friends weigh about 110ibs and I weigh a disgusting 135 and I’m 5”9. I look huge next to them all and I just don’t want to eat. before I went on holiday the other week managed to lose 7ibs and was really happy and thought I could continue losing weight.. I came back to find out I had gained four!!! :( I am so unhappy and just want to enjoy the summer but all I can think about is the pile of homework that needs to get done for september. I go to cognative behavoral therapy but in the 7 months or so I’ve been going nothing at all has happened. I’m just getting more down in the dumps as time goes on.. I don’t find any enjoyment in anything apart from being away from where I live and going on holiday cause no one knows me and I can be myself, I feel like people are constantly watching me and don’t approve of me and I just don’t know what I’ve become. I hate talking to people about things like this and just want to be happy again :(

I’m so sorry that you feel like that. I also feel like that sometimes when my hormones are out of wack, but try not to show it. It’s feels like I am doomed. Anyway I think your a good weight. I use to weigh that and looked great at 55. I would like to get back to that weight. I don’t think that this is why you are depressed though. Tell the Dr. how you are feeling and if they dont help see someone else, but don’t give up. Also, I have kids in IB and one of them gets like that sometimes I bring him treats, gum and any favorites. You can only do what you can do, but don’t kill yourself over it, after all we have to keep things in perspective when it comes to overload. Easier said then done, but I would like to share a list of things that may help.

  1. Watch something funny on T.V. (The Office:)

  2. Find a friend who cares about you (sometimes its hard)

  3. Find a relative to talk to (sometimes this is hard too)

  4. Get a animal -try to get a young one(only if you have time to take care of it (cats are usually easy) and are very comforting

  5. Try to remember that this is not perminant and that you can feel normal again.

  6. Remember that everyone has flaws and that is ok.

  7. Remember to love yourself. Noone has a right to judge you, and usually the people who do, well their life is probably pretty boring if they are truly judging you.

I’m very sorry for you and truly hope you get some relief and start to feel better.

Don’t worry- don’t compare yourself to anyone, everyone if unique in their own ways. Sometimes life can be tough, and you can feel like giving up, but hang in there. Because someone once told me, it’s that hard things in life that make us stronger.
