Do I need a license for a pitbull in Utah?

hey I am getting a pitbull, its my friends and he’s giving it to me, he lives in cali if that matters. it’s 8 weeks old, very cute. and I need to know if I need to license it here in utah??

I believe the attempted pitbull ban in Utah was defeated in 2007. I do not believe any further legislation has been passed. You should always have a dog licensed, no matter the breed and you should have him neutered. Keep him very socialized. Pitbulls get a bad rep because of the many horrible owners that encourage aggressive behavior. The are actually very sweet, intelligent dogs. A dog that is spayed/neutered is happier and healthier and lives a longer life than one who is not. You should not breed him because there are already too many pitbulls who need to be adopted. The shelters are full of them. This is a breed whose reproduction is not controlled and as a result they are killed by the tens of thousands each year. My city euthanizes over 14,000 dogs each year, the majority are pitbull and pit mixes.

wow I have never heard of that. sorry but make sure if you do get it to keep it around lots of people cause I have one and when he was a puppy he stayed inside so know anyone he doesnt know he will bite

yes you do…but they may have passed a law in utah making pittbulls illiegal. so go on google and check it out.

First, it’s not likely to be a “state law”…it’d be a County law, or a city law…so get on line, and see what the dog laws are in the county you live in…
