Pet Stains

I have a 14 week old Alaskan Malmute puppy who cannot seem to get the house training thing down. In fact for the past week even if we take her outside she waits until we get in the house to go potty. My apartment stinks and there are pee stains everywhere. The carpet cleaner wont get them up. I dont know if it is the soap I am using or not. I am at a loss here. HELP!!

Dogs love schedules. They love to know When, When When. You can change is sometimes and surprise them but training is always a schedule for a dog. Try to keep to the schedule.

No two dogs are ever the same. Just as no two people are.

Look at the crate as a “Safe Haven” for your dog not a prison. Dogs love their crates. It is their den, a place to rest that belongs only to them. It is where they hide their treasures. A place to rest and think about things. Dogs love their crates. My dogs go lay in their crates with the doors open. They run to their crate when they have done something wrong or if they are playing and think they are hiding from me.

There are wire and the plastic shell type of crates, decide which is best and get one. There are also a safe place for your dog when visitors are in the house that don’t know not to leave the dogs alone. I don’t like a lot of people touching my dogs. I don’t know where their hands have been. I am selective as to who can touch my dogs. All my dogs love people and will lick them to death but I don’t trust people.

A dog training class will only want one of you to work with the dog in the class and the other to observe from the outside. So only one of you needs to go anyway. The dog will learn the commands and the one going can teach the partner how it works.

I only mention the giving away because that is what happens to many dogs. There have been studies done in the UK that found out if they trained the people to know how to train the dogs, most dogs got to go back home and not be left at the shelter. Most people where not moving to a place they couldn’t keep their pets :)

I know you care are you wouldn’t be here asking questions. It also doesn’t matter what the dog cost, he is invaluable if he is trained correctly. You will be so proud of yourself if you just take these next couple of months and invest a little of priceless time. A well behaved dog is priceless. So is the owner of one.

There are two products I really like one is called “D-MOLISH NOW! powder scent” and the other is “Simple Solution” I bought this product at Petsmart. You will need to shampoo your carpet also. And once a week is most likely not to often in this case BUT we need to deal with your puppy.

You need to be crate training this puppy. He can not roam free and pee at will. You also need to set a schedule that you are taking him out to potty and do not let him come in until he potties. Do not leave food down, he only has 15 mins. to eat his food, don’t worry he won’t starve, (only feed the recommended amount for your dog) then pick it up. Pick up your water after 7:00 at night and do not give it back until you get up in the morning and close the toilets.

Keep your dog on a leash in the same room you are in with you at all times. Your dog goes where your go. Do not let him out of your sight. This way you know when he has to potty. If he is not with you he is in the crate and the crate is where you can see it. DO NOT LEAVE your dog in the crate for long periods of time. At night your dog must sleep in his crate. When you get up you go to the bathroom and then you take your dog out. You take your dog out before you go to bed. Do not mess around after you take your dog out, go to bed. Your dogs crate should be in your bedroom.

When they say your dog is your champion, they are talking about puppy training. Go to the Library and check out a good book on training your dog. Purchase a book on your dogs breed and READ it. Keep it for reference for as long as your dog lives, about 14 years. Enroll in Puppy Kindergarten.

I can tell you this. If you do not follow my instructions you will most likely not keep your dog. Most people that do not train their dog correctly will most likely end up with the dog living in the back yard or in a shelter or given away. You are already frustrated.

You must have spent a lot of money on your dog. An Alaskan Malmute is an expensive dog. Now you need to go all the way and invest in the right tools to have a dog that is house broke and that you are proud of. Your puppy is old enough to be house trained and should not be doing his DOO in the house.

Spend the time and a little more money and have a dog that will make you proud. Besides by the time you spend a lot of money on products to clean your carpet, you could have bought a good training book and invested in a good 8 week class, that will give you a great dog.

It’s always the training not the dog.

go to petsmart or petco and get some cleaner speciific for pet stains. your puppy could have an infection, so mayb a vet visit is best, just to be on the safe side. if there isnt an infection, maybe you could try going to a pet training class at petsmart, sometimes they offer free ones, so drop by there and pick up a schedule.

Answer #5

if you go to your local pet store, most likely they’ll have something to get the pet stains out. as for training your dog to go outside. praise him to death when he does, as he is doing it. right afterwords give him a biscut. when he goes inside, start yelling really loud. do this as he’s doing it. only when you catch him in “the act”. or else he’ll think that wet spot means he did someting wrong. (so if you spill something he feels bad.)

magichalo1, believe me I have nooo intention of giving her away. I have a pit mix as well. The puppy was also free. I got her from someone who didnt want her when she was 7 weeks old. We are trying to crate train her, since we did that with out pit mix, but she was already house trained when we got her. We have looked into classes, but it’s finding the one that both my boyfriend and I can go to that is hard. As for the food, we feed both dogs twice a day, but I didnt think about the water. And they both drink a ton of water. Thank you for your advice. I will definetly try it out. =)

Ditto ditto ditto to magichalo…the leash, the crate…and patience when outside are the keys here…DO NOT bring her back in, until she’s peed…and when she does…make like she’s the best thing since sliced bread.

The old rule…”when puppy pees in the house…roll up a newspaper and hit YOURSELF in the head, repeating…”I forgot to watch the dog”…

WELL FOR THE CLEANER THEY SHOULD SELL SOAP(OR WHATEVER ITS CALLED) TO TAKE OUT PET STAINS. AND I HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH MY DOG. WELL MY SUGGESTIAN TO YOU IS THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE THE PEE PADS EVERYWHERE AROUND THE HOUSE. THEN SOONER O LATER THEY WIILL HAVE TO GO ON THE PAD BECAUSE THERE IS NO WHERE ELSE TO GO. AND IF YOU SEE THEM GO BATHROOM RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU THEN YOU WAIT FOR THEM TO FINISH AND THEN YOU GET THEM AND TAKE THEM TO THE SPOT THEY HAD THEIR ACCIDENT AND YOU TELL THEM NO THEN YOU TAKE THEM TO THE PAD AND SIT THEM ON IT AND YOU TELL THEM YES OR HERE. AND THE NEXT TIME THAT THEY GO ON THE PAD THEN REWARD THEM BY GIVING THEM A TREAT AND SAYING GOOD DOG.
