What do pet rats eat?

ps. fancy rats

Answer #1

When I kept rats they just ate something that looked like hamster food but it had “rat food” on the front ;) I think it was just seeds and cereal type stuff :L if you go into a pet store they can probably show you the best thing to give them :)

Answer #2

Hamster food. It’s the same thing.

Answer #3

Lab Blocks…and fruits and veggies.

Answer #4

Rats will eat anything. But I heard that when you feed them meat, they will start to bite people.

Answer #5

I had pet rats, not fancy lol, they ate garbage and table scraps and grew to be pretty large. Rats are awesome pets if your’e lucky to have a smart one. I gave one blueberries and it died 2 days later so be warned. Its very to keep them with water at all times. Get one of the inverted ball-point dispensers and make a little hanger for it out of some wire or string. Clean their cage regularly as well. They actually don’t like this, but the smell gets noticeable in about a week. I used aspen shavings as bedding and they loved it. Get a bale of it at a local store, or petco if it’s across the street.

Answer #6

lol missing word: important

Answer #7

I fed them a mix of…

Rat Snacks 1 cup each: uncooked basmati rice, quaker oats, uncooked noodles, unsalted raw peanuts 2 chopped carrots 1/8 (half of a quarter) cup of olive oil 5 tablespoons of sugar a bit of salt Mix thoroughly in a bowl and put it in their cage; they’ll love you and their coats will be shiny.

Answer #8

rats only bite people they don’t like upon first meeting. I know this by experience. They love meat- consider it a treat for them. Raw meat might give them a taste for blood though, like any omnivore.

Answer #9

no its not

Answer #10

They make rat pellets thats what my hooded and albino rats ate. You can also feed them small chunks of fruit, but not too much so you don’t give them diarrhea. You can also feed then rice, oatmeal, wood blocks to keep their teeth down. Try to avoid salty snack foods, it can shut down their kidneys and kill them. You can also feed then cheeses, lettuce, dandelion greens.

Answer #11

actually, on a commercial scale, it is all the same. Thats why the commercial approach sux.

Answer #12

if they had kept their cage nice and tidy i would throw a spoonful of honey in the mix :D
