How come people on TV can admit to drug use and not be penalized?

Such as underage drinking or use of narcotics in shows. Just wondering.

Admitting that you are using, or have used, isn’t sound evidence that can stand up in court unless you have been caught in the act of being in possession of an illegal substance or intoxicated while underage.

I’ve always wondered the same thing! In the show “World’s Strictest Parents” the teenagers smoke cigarettes and drink while being filmed. You can’t say that isn’t solid evidence of a crime. I think there’s some sort of secret rule that says “if you give us a TV show that people will watch we won’t arrest you” ;)
