Why do you think people cheat on their spouses?

there are many many reasons to be honest, it could be that the woman isnt spending much time at home being a good wife, it could be that the woman isnt giving him much attention, the romance died, hence he looks elsewhere etc…

i think that they just get tired of the same everyday life and need new people and new spark in their life. i personally think its dumb because why cheat? why not just let the relationship go

Many reasons, perhaps their spouse isn’t home enough, so thye are lonely. Perhaps their marriage is lacking something making them feel less close. Perhaps they are having problems within their marriage. It could be just for the thrill of cheating and being with someone new. There are countless reasons.

Thaey think they can get away with it.Personally i think there is no excuses and it just shows they dont want to be with who they are with.

I have to agree, the reasons are endless and may or may not have anything to do with the partner they are cheating on. The only one or ones that are capable of answering the “why” of it, are the ones living the triangle.

I noticed that you’re aiming the cheating part solely on women. Why? This could go both ways.

Marriage isn’t taken as seriously as it should be. Couples tend to give up on each other too quickly, which is part of the problem. Why do they cheat? Well, because of all the above, plus the fact that most people get bored once they get whatever they want. I also believe that some people love the chasing game. It keeps them on their toes.

Many reasons, one of the partners possibly won’t be around as much, or won’t pay attention to one another as much. Or, one could easily be jealous or like to flirt with another person, more likely by instinct or personality.

Sometimes it can be because of a midlife crisis. Guys sometimes get to a point in their lives where they want somebody else who is younger so they can feel younger too, instead of looking at the same person who is growing old along with them. In reality it makes no sense since everyone gets old in the end anyway, but it can temporarily give them the false impression that they are still young. That’s one reason, but like everyone else says, there are lots of reasons why people cheat.

Wouldn’t seeing someone younger make them feel even older?

If it’s dating or a forbidden relationship, no, because it’s almost like they see the other person as equal to them. It’s a whole different ball game when that younger girl is a stepdaughter, or a daughter of the guy’s girlfriend. The only reason I know all this is because I have a couple older relatives that are dating girls my age. It’s messed up, I know, but it’s what some guys do.

Ask your dad why he cheated on your mom. He may be relieved to have a chance to talk about it with you, even if he’s also embarrassed.

I don’t think he’s embarrassed, nuh uh, not at all. But I will confront him, I guess… I don’t really have the guts to do that. But we’ll see. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

It may not require the kind of guts you mean, if you don’t think of it as a confrontation. You may well be angry at him (you certainly have reason to be), and it’s fine to let him know that if you want to. But that’s different from the curiosity - the hunger to really understand - that led you to ask the question here. You can put the question directly to him out of that same curiosity, setting your anger aside for a few minutes. He’s your dad, and however enraged you may feel, you still care about him, too - enough to want to hear him out and understand his experience better. That won’t prevent you from also sharing how you feel with him, if you want to. In my view, approaching it like that takes a more accessible but deeper kind of courage than the “guts” to confront.

For example if his wife/husband is a blonde, he/she want to see what it’s like to shag a brunette and etc…it’s just the way some people are, it’s sad Maybe it’s not about sex, maybe one feels like he or she isn’t getting enough love or attention for their partner, so they cheat.. AND sometimes, a wife/husband is perfect! But the partner still cheats for no apparent reason
