Parents too overprotective

I am 18 years old but still in high school. My parents dont let me do anything at all. I work until 6 pm and sometimes dont get home till 6:30. But once in a while I will stop by the bank to deposit my check so I will run a little late. So basically they will be calling me because I am like 2 min late. I feel they are so over protective of me and I am 18 years old. I cant go get coffee with a friend unless my parents have met them. I need my space and I am not getting it at all. WHAT DO I DO???

Answer #1

your parents are phsychotic… your 18! your can go wherever you want when you want, and if your parents don’t like it, than they can’t do much except not pay for things, but you have a job and stuff thats absolutly ridiculous that your parents are tight assed and your an adult! good luck! theres nothing I hate more than strict parents…

Answer #2

have you tried talking to them let them know that you are a mature 18 year old and matbe they will agree and let you have some space. they cant keep you under chain and lock for the rest of your life you an adult now and will want your own space its understandable and therefore they’ll understand. hope this helped take care and good luck :)

Answer #3

Save money and fly from the nest. I left my parents home at 17 and never looked back. You could try to talk to them and explain that you need your space, so as to learn and grow. But I highly doubt it will help. Parents are often just as closed minded as teenagers. It seems everyone seems to think they know whats best for themselves and others. Perhaps sometimes on rare occasions it’s true, but more often than not this is not the case. Anyhow your 18, you have a job. Talk with your closest friends about getting an apartment that you all can share in the responsibilities for.

Answer #4

If your 18 then go anyway! Really at that age they have no right to tell you what to do!
