I used to be shy too! Really, really shy. You wouldn’t even believe it! Things that helped me not be as shy are…

I changed my style in clothes. Clothes that made me feel comfortable. I was also so stiff because of self consious.. if you know what I mean! So I would just stand in my room and dance. Believe it or not, it really helps! Try those!

And after, at school or something, just go up to a random person who is sitting by themself! And try to talk to them. Ask them how they like the food or something. If you get scared or whatever, just think, they are sitting by themselves, so maybe they are shy too! And picture in your head you talking to the person already. It helped me! After I talked to a total stranger, and they didn’t think I was totally weird, I started being more out there and open! :)

Hope I helped! Funmaill me if you like. There are a lot of other things that helped, but I need to get off soon, so I wont list them.

The opposite of shy, is a person with a lot of self confidence.

Creating situations where you can make new friends one at a time (as has already been suggested) is a great idea. Many times one new friend may already have a circle of friends that you can be easily invited to join as well.

However, If you are not comfortable with even doing that just yet because you are “really, really shy”… then I might suggest that another alternative is to check into what is know as “self-help books”.

There are many books that are considered “self-help books” and they can be easily located on the internet. Many of these self help books can also be located in audio recordings.

What a lot of these self help books do, is explain to you some good solid proven facts, and constructive steps that you can take, to overcome akward things in your life such as extreme shyness.

I should also point out that being on this website will also help you relate to others better and help you get over your gross shyness in a much shorter period of time.

Good Luck !

I’m still very shy. it came from past experience, but I found that I’m starting to overcome it. Music has helped me a great deal. as I started listening to it, I got into a trance in picturing myself onstage in front of a bunch of people. being at school, my shyness was the most strongest at the time. what I did was, I got with two of my best friends, and we performed a song together, “Year 3000” by Jonas Brothers. you could probably do something like this, and just picture yourself in another place. you’ll be so focused on the music, you will forget that there is even an audience there. what caused this strong shyness? well, anyway, you can funmail me if you need more help; shyness is something hard to fight by yourself.
