well i tried again. it says it can be mutliple number of reasons. basically becuz he is caged. let him out more. or it could be he has oarasites. either way he should get checked out. try to keep his mind off of pickin them out. thats y the birds who r not caged dont do that.

I took him to the vet yesterday to get him checked for mites and she said that all she could find was that he was slightly overweight. so she gave me rules to take the peanuts out of his food and see how he does.. this morning, after vacuuming last night, there were more feathers all over the floor. ):

Answer #12

Could be stress or depression. I had that happen with my cockatiel when I first got him. It was a big change and he tore out a couple of his feathers in the first little while of owning him.

Answer #13

A cockatiel!? I didnt think they would have any depression issues. I have an umbrella cockatoo, and they are known for mood swings and bi-polar characteristics.

Answer #14

Well, he had been in a pet store for over a year, and his mate had been sold a week before I bought him. I was told they are fairly emotional birds. I don’t know if the same applies to parrots, though.
