What's your opinion on sending your child/ren to school with a cell phone - good idea or no?

Answer #1

If you drive your kids to school and fetch them as soon as school finishes, they don’t need a cell.

But if your kid goes to school with public transports, they should have one. So they can call you when they missed their bus and will be late. Or when they took the wrong bus by accident and need to be fetched somewhere. Or when the bus company is on strike. Or whatever may happen on the way to school.

Answer #2

Good answer Rot…But i reckon making them leave it on charge when they go to bed in a room other than thier bedroom…is a must..(excuse of your charger does my phone aswell type thing)…Ya have got to be able to check that phone, and be very carefull with what innocence of growing up you may find …and act reasonabley to it.

Answer #3

I think it depeneds on how old there are (: About 13-14 depending on how mature there are, I’d send them with a cell phone - as long as they don’t use it during school .-.

Answer #8

I think it is a good idea kids have cell phones and with GPS tracking capability while walking to the bus stop or school. As one of the girls posted here, she was walking home one evening and on her phone with her mother when 4 men in a van pulled up. Fortunately nothing happened to her but these days many of the abductions and attacks on kids occur just before or after school. It’s not a problem for the school My GD’s have them and take them to school but the school rules are that they are turned off and put in their lockers. If they are caught with them during class, they are taken away and parents have to pick them up.

Answer #9

well my sisters and i all got phones at a young age because we walked 2 school every day and u never know what will happen on theyre way 2 school and it all depends on the type of parent u r if u want ur kids 2 have one then give them one and vise versa but u should watch them closely 2 only let the child have a phone if they prove they are responsible enough 2 handle it and i recomend keeping full interaction with the phone its ur right as a parent 2 moniter what ur child does and u can have certain things removed or added on a phone depending on wat u want ur child 2 be able 2 do take full control over the phone 2 and if nessicary u can take the phone away and have it shut off
