Ok I just don't get it...

Why is it that when you hear yourself on the radio or on a recording (like home movie or something) that your voice sounds different? Am I the only one who notices? It’s seriously annoying me not knowing how it works. If you don’t know the answer, then just give me your theories.

Answer #1

I know eh? But I don’t hate hearing my voice, I just cringe or leave the room if I can.

Just thinking about it, I wonder how many people are the same? And I wonder if it’s the same for celebrities?

Answer #2

Nope happens to everyone. I believe the cause is 90% of what you hear is sound waves travailing through your skull then hitting your ear drums, not travailing through the air. Since the materials in your skull are denser then the air, the pitch of the sound is altered.

I personally hate the sound of my voice when its recorded, its sounds very deep and slow, making me sound stupid.
