How does the following improve soil fertility?

I’m studying for my biology test and I was wondering, How does the following improve soil fertility: -ploughing in stubble rather than burning it -draining waterlogged fields -planting peas or beans every third year -adding NPK fertiliser -adding well-rotted compost :\ I’m stuckk! I wanna get an A badly.

Answer #1

Fertility requires nutrients as found from organic material or fertilizers. Organic material is much less concentrated than fertilizer, but it also improves soil structure, making it soft and crumbly. Legumes like beans and similar plants fix nitrogen from the air into the soil. Too much water dissolves away nutrients.
