night time feeding

my 2 yr old daughter still demands night time feeds of milk how can I make her stop that…she is a poor eater too

Answer #1

Children do not need nourishment in the middle of the night past 6 months of age. Plus all this ‘night-time feeding’ can lead to bottle mouth, where the teeth begin to decay. The milk pools in the mouth when they sleep and begins the process.

This is a habit and you need to get her past it! Be prepared for kicking and screaming but remain calm and in control give it a week! Put her bed when she wakes for her ‘feeding’ gently.

Watch how the ‘Nanny’ works out bedtime issues.

  1. she only gives an explaination 2)once then is just calmly firm 3)then just puts back to bed no verbalization.

Be prepared like I referred to. As for your child being a finicky eater. My oldest was this way and things worked out just offer the appropriate amounts of healthy food each time and move on if she doesn’t eat it don’t sweat it. Perhaps the next meal will go better. Or the next.

These are the minor issues you are to encounter with child rearing. Also there are no ‘patent’ answers to child rearing issues just things to try. Good Luck and good sleeping.

Answer #2

Well maybe she has her appetight at night not in the day and you are a mother right? You should devote everysecond of your day to you child.

Answer #3

give some to her before bed, but not in the middle of the night. Or you could just gradually get he off of it. To make her eat more, maybe give her more dairy products.

Answer #4

If you dont give it to her, she will stop. When she “demands” milk, start out by giving her a drink of water if she is thirsty and wean back from there and eventually her night time wakings for something to eat/drink should stop. Its all about being consistant and sticking to it as hard as it may be at 1st…she will test the waters per say to see if you will give in, but your persistance will pay off. As far as her being a poor eater, she wont starve…she will eat when she is hungry and through the day have snacks available to her that she likes(healthy ones) like cheese, crackers, fruit ect… Good luck!
