How do I get my 2 yr old to feed himself?He won't even finger feed himself. I have been feeding him way to long and now it is definitely time for him to learn. he passes me a cookie from the table so I can feed him it. I try to put it to his mouth with his hand, but he just drops on the floor every time. any advice on how to spoon and finger feed himself. he doesn't even like to touch a spoon when I try to put it in his hand...please help me...???
I have a 3 year old daughter and sometimes she still wants me to feed her, it doesn't happen to often. But when it does I tell her that I'm not going to feed her that she is a big girl and can feed herself. She will pout and whine for a couple minutes, but she will eat. I'm sure if you sit the food in front on him and tell him that he is a big boy and he needs to feed himself, then step away from him, he will start eatting by himself. It may take a few times and some crying, but he will get it. Every child develops differently so just be patient and keep working with him. Encourage him and tell him that he is doing a good job, even if he gets more on him or the floor then in his mouth.
1.Is he picking up his cup to drink? If so, might you try putting food in a bottle; like strained or juiced, something like that. 2. 2 is old enough to feed oneself, if able. And I'm not a parent. But I know a lot of kids. And my conclusion (when they won't eat) is that they're being picky and lazy. lol 3.Maybe it's the foods? I give my cousins pretzels or cereal. 4. Try showing him how you eat, like an example. 5. Last resort: keep feeding him, he'll learn?

this is what I did for my youngest when she was 2.
I said put the food infront of her, and I simply said "mommy isnt going to feed you, you are a big girl" and I walked away (not to far) eventually she got hungry enough and she picked up her food
