My teeth hurt SO bad!

I got my braces tightened today and they’re hurting sooo bad. To the point where I could really cry. I’ve taken some Tylenol. I’d just like to bite down on something really hard. And I just want to take my braces off! How do I stop the pain?

Since my teeth are hurting, does that mean they’re moving a lot?

Answer #1

I suggest you take Motrin, as Tylenol has done very little for me when I had tooth problems. (As long as you’re not allergic to Ibuprofen, all should be well.) Motrin does wonders, and you can get a hold of it in any drug store! Some grocery stores have it, too.

The pain is caused from the fact that they’re very slowly being moved, but it will get better.

I sympathize, as I know how much tooth pain sucks. I hope you feel better soon.

Answer #2

Yeah. I used to have braces so I know the pain you’re going through. The reason it hurts is because they’re basically asking your teeth to move but they don’t want to. They’re being pulled on.

You can try Tylenol or something maybe even Orajel. Just numb the teeth. lol Not sure if the Orajel will work, but who knows.

The one thing I can really tell you is that it only hurts for a couple days. If you’re willing to put up with the pain you’ll be fine. 8D

When I went to the orthodontist, they gave me a bite plate, and it helped with the pain. Ask your orthodontist about one, or maybe your dentist.

Answer #5

awww!! I feel you pain hon! I had braces in gr.4!! and I was crying and whining to my parents of how painful they were!! the reason they’re hurting real bad is because the braces are trying to line up you teeth straight!… I know it must be tough to eat!! so for now eat things that don’t require so much chewing! - yougurt, apple suace, cream soups.. ect! as for the pain… ask your ortodotist about it, since tylenol isn’t working! hang in there hun!… the end results are worth it (:

Answer #6

The pain should go away eventually. Just try not to rip your teeth out till then. =)

Answer #7
