My poor little maltese

Today I was sitting on the couch cleaning, when saidie my maltese jumps up on the couch and falls I looked down at her and she couldnt walk she kept her leg up so she wouldnt hurt it I think it was just a sprain because she didnt cry she seems to be doing a little better but what should I do about it. Trip to the vet to make sure it is just a sprain…until then, keep her quiet…take her outside on a leash so she doesn’t decide to have more fun than she can handle…and don’t let her jump up and down off the furniture, until you find out that she’s ok..

yes, a trip to the vet if not better. also, maybe you should invest in a set of carpeted “stairs” for the couch, bed, etc. my little ones use them and suffer less injuries.

Answer #3

Poor thing. I am no expert, but if it was me and there was no swelling or tenderness then I’d give it 2 or 3 days and if it still wasn’t better, then I’d take it to the vet.

lol, mine’s such a little baby he’d be howling… I’d take her to the vet just to be sure… you never really know without an x-ray, I broke my arm, thought it was just a sprain…

Answer #5

I have the same set of little “stairs” that amoeba has, so my Westie can get on and off the couch without injury. Jumping up puts a lot of stress on those ACL tendons…jumping down puts stress on the pasturns, elbows and shoulders…it doesn’t seem like much when they are young…but they definately pay the price as they age…

awhh same thing happend to my 3 pound chihuahua xcept I didnt see how she hurt herself. she was limping for about 2 days until I took her to the vet. he said she may have hurt her nail!. not kiddin lol. the next day she was fine. I don’t know little dogs are so fragile you should take her to the vet tho. her case seems a little more serious. try touching her leg and see if she yelps that shud be a clear sign somthins wrong. good luck!!!
