My parents hate xmas!

I am totally fed up of my parents hating xmas. These are some of the xmas related comments I hear on a regular basis: “its become too commercial”, “I dont like it, I could take it or leave it”, “ how I wish we could just not do xmas this year”‘ “ this year you can buy your own pressents and see how hard we have to work for xmas, its a waste of time.”, “xmas is rubbish and pointless, one day you’ll understand” etc etc… Ic ant stand it! I have a 10 year old brother for god sake! 10!!! They are ruining the magic of xmas for him, slaggin it off like that! How can they do it! They enjoyed xmas when they were kids so surely even if they have some issues with it they shouldnt say a thing, you know, let us enjoy it! And then to make it worse on xmas day they’ll be all happy and smiley which is quite upsetting because I know that its all for show and they arent happy at all! The whole thing makes me wanna cry! They’re ruining everything!!! Help… And I cant exactly tell them to start liking it because then I know they will pretend to, which will be pointless because I’ll know they are acting! Wot on earth can I do? Especially for my little bro! He shouldnt be hearing that xmas is worthless, he loves it even if it is just for the pressies! :) they shouldnt get to ruin everything! And I dont know wot to do, can I do anything? Or do I just go with the flow?

Answer #1

Thats just disrespectful! No offence, but Christmas is a time of forgiving and your parents shouldn’t be ruining a time like that for children or teenagers! It doesn’t have to be religious or anyhting, but you can still get together and have fun! Its not your fault - try talking it through with your parents. I’m sure they would understand! :D

Answer #2

ask if they can celebrate it with only a few presents for each person. and they dont have to think about the commercilizing and stuff. ask them if they want to make it more of a religous thing it will help for them.
