How can I deal with my overprotective Mum?

Iam 15 yr old girl and my mum wont let me have sleepovers only on holidays and when they come around iam luckey to have one. she never lets me go shopping and she yells at me and calls me a bit*ch. like today she asked for something I swear I didnt hear her and she got up me so bad she makes me cry. oh yer I bought a hat and she thinks iam gunna turn into a tart if I were the hat. I have talked to her but she wont listen to me. what can I do?

It’s difficult, isn’t it? This question has come up a lot on this site, and it always frustrates me every time…

ya I get wha u mean about your mom…my mom is not overprotective, but she is crazy bout my grades!!! I’d just say try talking to her when she’s in a good mood one on one and tell her your feelings and see what she says!!! I know how bad it is because your a teenager and wana enjoy it while u can ryt??!!! ask her if she can trust you more or somtihng like that!!! hope I made sence!! and thanx 4 your advice!! im definately going to take it and c wha happens!!! :)

Maybe you should have a private converstation with your mom…Do it during the time when she’s not in a bad mood. You should express to her on what you feel, yet be gentle while telling her. I’m sure she has some reasons why. I think that it is really the best way. Or maybe you could ask your dad to tell your mom if you are a bit hesitant. But still, it would be much better if you tell her directly and not through other people. Ask also advices from your friends. It’ll give you the needed confidence when you face your mom…
