My mom is so strict!!!

You’re 13, still a child. I don’t think you understand how worried your mother is for your safety, there are plenty of dangerous people out there that can hurt you, kidnap you, or take advantage of you.

First, I suggest you either follow your mother’s rules when going out or make compromises. Here are some compromises:

1- Before going anywhere, let her know where you’re going and who you will be with.

2- Ask you mother to buy you a cheap cellphone (if you don’t already have one), and just text her every hour that you’re out telling her that you’re safe. This will mostly get her off your back, because you’re being mature and responsible for your own safety.

3- Introduce some of the friends you hang out with to your mother. Invite them over to hang out. I’m sure you’re hanging out with the right crowd, so this will help your mother realize that you’re not doing anything wrong when you go out or hang with the wrong kind of people. Maybe your mother knows some of your friends parents from the neighborhood, they can assure each other of you and your friend’s whereabouts.

If you take these measures, she will less likely give you a million rules when going out, and maybe give you a little more freedom. Her concern for you is normal and important. Give them a try, and let your mother know that you’re trying to show her that you’re a responsible kid.
