My friends bulimic and I made a pact with her I cant keep.

My friend has been having a really rough time lately and just told me that she’s started purging again which she hasn’t done for about a year. I love her to death and would do anything to make her stop but talking about it pisses her off, so she asked me to make a pact. I’ll quit smoking if she stops throwing up. I cant just quit for good but she doesn’t understand, I wanna quit b/c at 15 it has turned into what I spend all my money on, but I need to do it overtime. Should I just lie to her and tell her I’ve stopped?

I know two people who’ve been through the same exact thing. My two best friends made a pact that if one of them stopped smoking, the other one who stop cutting herself, and the smoker continued on with the habit. It wasn’t long before the cutter found out. I know how hard it is to stop BOTH purging and smoking. It’s going to be hard for both of you, but you should just tell her that you’re trying your best to stop smoking. I’m sure she’ll understand… But if you’re not trying at all, then sorry, but you’re a shitty friend to have.

See if you can get someone to buy you a patch. My great grandma used to smoke 6 packs a day for 60 years and she used the patch and it got her to completely quit. she did die of lung cancer though.

whats more important? your cigarettes, or your friends health? and even YOUR health!? its just a matter of how much you care about you and your friend.
