My friend is throwing his life away. what do I say to him?

k, in the past year he’s gotten into drugs, smoking, drinking, skipping school, and some other bad crap. I can’t just stand by and watch him thow his life away, but what should I do? should I say something, and if so, what do I say? without sounding like his mother? oh, and I forgot to mention that his mom is kicking him out of the house. I just feel like I don’t even know him anymore.

Seriously that is such a hard thing to do. I know how you feel. I’m sort of in that sitution right now.. I would just say something like “honestly have you looked in the mirror lately? you’ve been so different lately..” I said it and it started a good conversation and now my friend is trying to quit. I mean dont be like all preachy just say what you’ve noticed and how it hurts you. but then dont bring it up again or he’ll feel pressured. and he has to be able to see whats happening as well as you. and dont yell or get mad about it or it’ll just start a fight. hope this helps..

If you’ve done everything you can to try to help him let him fall. It sounds bad but eventually he’ll grow up, but then again… he may not grow up at all. If he’s under 18 see if you can get him admitted into a treatment facility. But there’s also a catch to that… He can only be “cured” if he wants help.
