My first period

well…yeah did start your period. When you first start, it starts out for a little bit…! Just always and try to keep track of when you started it on a calendar, it will give you an idea when the next one will start. For cramps, take advil to make the pain go away. You’ll be fine.

many people have different symptoms, however, your sound typical.

once your periods are regular, they can last between 2 -7 days (although the norm is 3-5) and it can be every months between 21 days or every 35 days (normal cycle is 28 days)

so to clarify; average women; 3-5 days. and it normally starts 28 days AFTER the first day of your period - it’s not as complicated as it sounds!

also; your periods are not established yet, you may go a while with no period, or you may be on the clock now forever, either way. remember this is your body, and there is no text boo answer - you are you! if you do have any concerns speak to your school nurse, thats what their there for!

cramping, aching and general abdominal aches are normal for most people. how much you bleed will vary, think of the bleeding as going up a hill, often it starts lighter on the first day, then (at the top of the hill) is like your peak day, after then it calms down a bit until you reach the other side of the hill.

so look out for your next period on about the 1st of august, at least have some sanitary towels in your bag (you can get some nicely packaged ones) avoid using tampons until your periods is well established. you can use them, but give your body a chance to get used to it. also, I believe that it’s meant to be coming out of your body, but hey, I use them when I go swimming or out for the night -NOT regurly.

don’t worry about it, I’m disapointed you haven’t got someone to ask about this. dependent on your age, a couple of paracetamol will help with the aches (as long as there are no allergies, if so, check with your GP)

primrose capsules or oils can help eliviate pains, warm baths, hot ater bottles and the fetal position when lying down (works for me!)

totally normal I’ve had my period 4 about a year and mine are still just like that .only three days! its a good thing

yep you started your period. when you first get it its really bad. & you may get think chunks of blood . this is nothing to worry about. your period usually lasts up to 4 or 5 days. so it will get slower. & you wont bleed as much. but on your first couple days I strongly suggest to use tampons bc they will hold the blood !!!
