My domestic cat has been ear tipped :(

Okay so I herd austin humane society were spaying and giving free shots to cats.so I took my 2 kittens and mom to go get spayed and basic shots. I raised the 2 kittens when they were weeks old and took care of them. Now they are both 6 months old. The mom lives on the neighborhood and only comes by my house to eat. Okay so after I picked them up from the center I noticed that part of my 2 kittens ears were tipped off!!! I research what it meant and it means that they are feral cats and they are not!!! They are domesticated and live in my home. The mom is but not my 2 six months kitties :( I feel so bad! I had been told about ear tipping but never explained what it meant or how much of the ear was going to be taken off!!! I feel terrible! I even took them in their collars! Why did they tipped my domesticated kitties ears?!!!

Were they born outside of the home, and do they go outside? The mother is obviously feral, so usually that means the kittens are as well.

Ear-tipping shouldn’t be viewed as a bad thing. It’s done very humanely (pain-free), and it means your kitties don’t ever have to be subjected to trapping and ending up going through unnecessary surgery only to find out the cat has already been spayed.
