How to clean your cat's ears?

I used a wet cotton wool to clean the outside of her ears, and she has black stuff in there, is there a safe way to clean out her ears more throughly?

ear swabs…dry…just try it out once they get dirty use the next onebe…be very careful and very gentle cats dont ushually like being cleaned by any1 but themselves.or take it to the vet. good luck -v-

I’ve heard never to use cotton buds because you might push the dirt deeper inside…
