My Dogs Nose

My dogs nose is always dry. He doesn’t seem to be sick at all. It’s just dry and a little crusty on the top, and sometimes moist in the front part (nostrels) but always dry on top. Are these symptoms of anything bad? Should I worry?

Answer #1

No, it’s an old wives tale that when a dogs nose is dry he is always sick.

Just check his behaviour, if he is still his own loving self, then there is nothing to worry about.

I suspect that the reason your dog’s nose is crusty on top is because it gets burned in the sun, we used to put a special cream on it called zambuk to heal our dogs…but I’d doubt you’d find it where you live.

So ask your vet for advice on that.

Answer #2

It means nothing other than he hasn’t licked it lately.

Does he dig? That can make it crusty on top…
